It's Yoga Month...Hallelujah

It may be halfway finished but the cup is not empty! September is National Yoga Month and there is still time left to get in a free class somewhere around the country. Check out the official Yoga Month website. Here's their listing of over 1,500 Yoga Month events - free classes all around the country. From this link, print out a card to get ONE WEEK OF FREE YOGA at any of 1,200 studios nationwide through October. The same folks have also made an effort to provide all kinds of resources on the benefits of yoga, available at this link.

If you live in LA, check out this Accidental Yogist Blog post for more information on lots of celebratory activities all around the city.

The Huffington Post also goes a little but further into the background of Yoga Month and yoga in America here. Apparently it was started by LA yogi Johannes Fisslinger, as "an awareness campaign to educate about the many benefits of yoga and inspire our fellow citizens to live healthier, happier lives." The same article says there are 16 million Americans practicing yoga nowadays (16 MILLION!). Sounds like the word is spreading. I wonder how many will be practicing by this time next year?
